Seven Reasons to Have a Desert Wedding

We live in one of the most captivating states when it comes to beautiful views. Belive it or not, each year, people come from all over the world to get married here. There are so many draws to having a desert wedding, but we wanted to break down a few of our favorite reasons in case you are having doubts!

The Weather

Turn on the weather channel in any given winter month you’ll likely see snowflakes covering a good portion of the US, but over there in the southwest corner of the country, you’ll usually find the icon of a sun sporting a knowing smirk. If you have dreamed of a winter wedding, but don’t want your beautiful dress covered up under a heavy wrap, a desert wedding just might be the answer! With temperatures frequently in the 60-70’s your guests won’t complain about an out door ceremony or dining alfresco under the night sky. The desert does get chilly in the evenings, which makes a perfect excuse to tuck inside for dancing and cake.

The Sunsets

The desert sunsets are legendary and need little explanation. If you are into dramatic color displays and breathtaking views, then the desert is where it is at.

The Light

This goes hand in hand with desert sunsets, but there is something magical about the light in the desert. It has a pinkish glow at dusk that is flattering and mystical all at once. The sandy desert floor works as a natural light reflector bouncing soft light that catches your eyes and makes them sparkle. Everyone will think it is the love you two share, so we’ll just keep that little bit a secret between us, ok?

The Cactus

Cactus may not be your conventional idea of beauty, but there is no denying it’s unique attraction. There is something so romantic about a elegant gown and soft floral arrangements set against the dramatic backdrop of majestic saguaros.

Its Natural Beauty

The beauty of the desert doesn’t need much to improve its appearance, but it also allows for colors to really be the center of the show if you want colorful wedding décor. Likewise, pastel color pallets add a touch of soft romance while letting the colors of the desert do your decorating for you!

The Food

Who doesn’t love tacos? But seriously, the southwest is home to food that nourishes your taste buds and your heart. There is something so deliciously comforting about tucking into hand crafted tamales or warm enchiladas. And there is nothing tasts better after a night of dancing than a sweet pan dulces, a special treat not often found elswhere in the country! Whether it is your rehearsal dinner or for the wedding itself you wont be leaving hungry!

Things to Do

Whether you’re planning a destination wedding or you are local to the southwest, planning a wedding here offers many of cultural attractions for your guests. From museums, to amazing hiking, and even live music or artisan craft fairs, your guests wont be a loss of for things to do when they are in town for your wedding.

There Is No End of Ways to Make the Desert Your Own

From putting cactus in your bridal bouquet to using nopales (prickly pear cactus pads) as your table place cards, we haven’t even begun to prick the surface of ways to put your signature style on a desert wedding. If you love the weather but cactus isn’t your thing, consider one of our many historical churches. With beautiful Spanish architecture and ornate artwork, they are classic enough to appeal to the most traditional of brides. Do you see your self as a more modern bride with an artistic flare? Then perhaps a museum wedding is more to your taste. While our summer months do get pretty toasty, an indoor wedding at a venue with a view will treat your guests to sunset vistas overlooking the mountains.
