Yesterday on Instagram, I shared a photo of mother adjusting her daughter’s veil under the watchful eye of an heirloom mirror that had seen an earlier bride, this same mother, fixing her veil with her own mother looking on. What a powerful legacy marriage invites us into. That moment was a defining moment for me as a photographer. To see what had been seen decades before and lived out for decades since instilled in me the desire to not just capture wedding photos, but rather document legacies. That family’s legacy is continuing as Matt, with so much thought and prayer, asked Brenna to be his wife. Having documented this family through two weddings, and a few babies, Jon and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Matt on another level when we committed to support and pray for him as he embarked on a career as a missionary serving students at Arizona State University. The last few years supporting Matt has invited us to learn not only about Matt’s heart for serving the Lord, but also watched him grow in love for Brenna.
We are so honored to be capturing their wedding in November. Seeing yet another start of a marriage legacy within this family bears a weight. We have an opportunity to lay testimony to another beginning, another fresh start. To capture it well, authentic to each couple is something we approach with integrity. Matt and Brenna are joyful, and playful. They are kind and thoughtful. They care deeply for those they are serving as well as those they serve alongside. We can’t wait to to capture that element of who they are as they celebrate the start of their life together. Not to mention this wedding is going to have a killer rooftop dance reception so you know this party will be awesome! Matt and Brenna, thank you for trusting us with your day. We love you both!
