Samantha & Austin [ Classic Desert Engagement Session]

We were thrilled when Samantha and Austin reached out to us about photographing their wedding at the historical Tanque Verde Ranch, since it is one of our favorite venues to work with. As we got to know them, we fell in love with their adventurous spirits and joy of travel. Austin proposed to Samantha on a hike in the redwoods of California and we can’t think of a more romantic way to ask someone to spend forever than underneath trees that go straight up for what seems like forever!

They traveled here to Tucson for the Christmas holiday and to have their engagement session with us. Because of all the rainy weather we had been having leading up to Christmas, we did their session over two days, which allowed us to visit one of Samantha’s childhood stomping grounds as well as spend some time in our beautiful desert. The sun was especially fickle on the Thursday we first met up, but by the time our session started, it was shining in full force. The following Friday was absolutely perfect weather without hardly a cloud in the sky!

We loved their classic style and how well it set off the locations we were in. The soft lace of Samantha’s dresses, and Austin’s layering of a sweater and button down shirt, was a perfect contrast to the Spanish architecture and desert we were photographing.  Their style was on point, but what really stood out to us was what a great connection they have. They genuinely enjoyed each other and we loved hearing about their different adventures they have shared. We are quite taken with their boxer, Sevilla, named for a town in Spain that they visited.  We can’t wait to capture their wedding next fall, especially if Sevilla can be there in attendance! Can’t you see that beauty adorned with a flower crown?!
