We have sat down twice now to write this blog about Josie and Aaron’s wedding and each time, words fail us on what to say that adequately describe the experience of being present with these two on their wedding day. They were married at the private estate of one of Josie’s best friend’s surrounded by those that were the dearest to them. The girls got ready in the studio of her bridesmaid, Nicole, where they prayed over Josie, laughed and fellowshipped with one another. Special friends, slipped in and out as they got ready, taking care of final details. It was joyful and peaceful.
Possibly my favorite part of the day, though it is really hard to narrow it down to one moment, was their first touch. Josie and Aaron prepared love letters to each other that they read and then later placed in a locked box along with their vows to the added to and shared together over the years. Their ability to keep their eyes averted was truly an act of self control as they held one another and cried together. Their words were truly for each other only as we all held back to all them this time “alone”, but the intimacy of the moment is palatable and resulted in some of my favorite images from the day.
Another favorite was the exceptional worship that was included in the ceremony. What a prefect way to center everyone’s hearts on the covenant of marriage. Aaron completely killed it with his personal vows, highlighting the minutes that he had waited for this moment, and Josie poetically declared her vows in the special way she has with words. Joyful, honest, poignant and funny, Aaron and Josie committed their lives to each other in one of the most magical ceremonies we have ever witnessed.
Aaron and Josie, Jon and I are truly excited for you to share your lives together. The way you both “get” each other is clearly God given. We love seeing the way you put God first in your lives and encourage each other in the process. The best part is, that through your wedding and engagement, we now get to call your friends. We love you guys!
Blessings,
Amber & Jon
